Comic Con - Thursday Report

The people are arriving. Today was much more crowded than yesterday and I expect the crowd to build dramatically tomorrow. 

I purchased the Boilerplate book and Mouse Guard book 1 and I got some sketches.

There are still far fewer costumes than last year, but maybe they will arrive over the weekend, we are still not in full swing yet.

Bruce Willis, Helen Mirren, Mary-Louise Parker and Karl Urban joined RED graphic Novel writer Warren Ellis onstage to rile the crowd up in support of the movie, RED. RED stands for Retired Extremely Dangerous. Willis was surprisingly soft spoken in contrast to his ofttimes wise-cracking onscreen performance. Helen Mirren was very funny and wore a shirt honoring the late Harvey Pekar.

The thriller Salt, out Friday, was represented by Director Phillip Noyce, Angelina Jolie, and Liev Schreiber.

Battle: Los Angeles, a SF thriller was on hand as well, supported by Director Jonathan Liebesman, and actors Aaron Eckhart and Michelle Rodriguez.

 For some reason Pauly Shore was on the main floor of the big hall being interviewed by Telemundo.

Comic Con Begins - Wednesday Report

Comic Con Day 1 - Wednesday

I arrived at Comic Con this evening and got to take a brief jaunt into the main hall. I didn't see anything life changing, but I only had a few minutes.  I had lovely conversations with Christopher Moeller (of Iron Empires fame and painter of many Magic game cards among other things) and Anina Bennett (writer of Boilerplate.) There will be much more time tomorrow for pictures and such. 

Today, I did see a couple of cool things to snap pix of... First is a cool motorcycle from the upcoming SF / vampire / distopian epic film, Priest, from Screen Gems. This bike has a military, sf, Harley vibe...

Next is Gran Turismo 5 - finally coming to PS3 in 3D and it looks very real. They had the player in a driver's seat.

A life size Kenshiro from the bitchin' anime Fist of the North Star is on hand to announce the video game of the same name. 

And finally for today, the really nicely done Buck Rogers figure from Go Hero. I'm pretty sure this is their figure, as it is definitely their Weekly World News  Bat Boy figure next to it.

Companions may accompany their owner without taking up a troop slot, they are additional figures with their own character sheet that may enter the game during the first turn. They do not get reinforcements if they are eliminated.

Book Preview - Green Lama Unbound

I am very excited about Adam Garcia's followup to his terrific Green Lama novella, Horror in Clay. As you can see from the preview image above, Adam's new novel is called, Green Lama Unbound. Look for it from Cornerstone Books / Airship 27 Productions, or buy it through my Amazon link to the right. I am eagerly awaiting its release.

Green Lama takes on Cthulhu. Awesome. Those look like Deep Ones to me in the illustration above. The amazing Mike Fyles is doing the art on this book and as you can tell he loves the Green Lama.

Adam has been doing a ton of research on both the Lama (in all his incarnations) and his creator, Kendell Foster Crossen.  Crossen wrote the Lama for Pulps, Comics, and Radio. Adam has researched his papers and letter and is becoming quite the Lama expert.

Adam has agreed to an interview which I will post as the publication date draws closer.

Part 1

Here is the first of a series of updated customs to reflect the Revised Rules. Thanks to Per Larsson (drapulv on the boards) for the suggestions and for poking me to get this done.

I have tackled Krisztov Moeller first, because he is the leader. I will try to get one a week until the faction is done. I am still using the older template, but will consider changing to the new one if there is strong demand for it. All the Tokens and Character Sheets are the same. 

Please let me know if you find any errors or omissions.
